Nakhchivan State University (Nakhchivan State Pedagogical Institute) was established in 1967. On November 1, 1972, by the decision of the scientific council of Nakhchivan Pedagogical Institute, the chair of "Civil Defense and Physical Education" was established and Huseynov Khalid Latif oglu was appointed as the head. After that, until 1994, Hasan Bayramov headed the Chair of Civil Defense. After Hasan Bayramov, the head of the chair is Dr. Khagani, Mehman Allahverdiyev, Javanshir Zeynalli and Docent Rzayev Oktay Rza oglu since November 2007, and Docent Alikhanov Valeh Mammad oglu since June 2023. From that period on the basis of the state program, the subjects of Civil defense and the basics of medical knowledge, which are held in the form of compulsory lessons, are taught in the chair.

On the order of the rector of Nakhchivan State University, Associate Professor Alikhanov Valeh Mammad oglu was appointed to the Chair of Pre-Conscript Training and Civil Defense from June 2023 is in charge.

Nakhchivan State University (Nakhchivan State Pedagogical Institute) started its activities in 1967. At that time, he was a physical education teacher.  On November 1, 1972, the chair of "Civil Defense and Physical Education" was established and Huseynov Khalid Latif oglu was appointed as the head. In 1979, Bagirov Israfil Mammadali oglu was appointed as a teacher at the Chair of Physical Education and Sports. From that period, in addition to the physical education classes conducted in the form of compulsory lessons, based on the state program, according to the order of the branch directorate dated October 1, 1970, extracurricular exercises in table tennis, football, basketball, volleyball, gymnastics were organized in the branch. These exercises were led by Huseynov Khalid Latif oglu and Bagirov Israfil Mammadali oglu.   Since 1986, Mammadov Nizami Imamali oglu worked as the head of the Chair of Physical Education and Sports. Since 2000, Rahimov Mammadali Hamza oglu has been appointed as the head of the Chair of Physical Education and Sports Games, and Kazimov Intigam Haji oglu of the Chair of Physical Education and Sports. Later, the chairs were united under the name of the Chair of Physical Education and Sports, and currently that department is headed by Tagiyev Avaz Zeynalabdin oglu.

On the order of the rector of Nakhchivan State University, Taghiyev Avaz Zeynalabdin oglu was appointed the head of the "Physical Education and Sports" department in June 2016 and currently heads the chair. The name of the chair has been changed to "Coaching" since 2024.

The "Pedagogy and Psychology" department was established in 1970 and since its inception, it has played an important role in the social-political and scientific-pedagogical life of the university, acting as one of the main participants in the educational process. Organization of the teaching process at a high level, preparation of students as professional teaching staff, their formation as mature citizens and solving other important issues are among the main functions and main tasks of the chair. In order to strengthen the pedagogical and psychological training of future teachers, lectures and seminars were organized at a high level in accordance with the requirements of the time.

The first head of the chair was Professor Ibrahim Mollayev. Currently, the "Inclusive Education Center" and the "School History" cabin are operating under the chair.

- Creation and development of a scientific environment rich in research and experience. staff and 2 teaching assistants. 10 of them are Doctor of Philosophy (1 professor, 6 associate professors, 2 head teachers, 1 teacher), 1 doctor of sciences (professor), 1 head teacher, 1 laboratory technician, and 1 cabin manager.

In 1995, the Chair of Teaching Methodology of Subjects was established at Nakhchivan State University. Since 2012, the name of the chair has been changed and it has been named "Methodology of subject teaching and technology teaching" department. Currently, there are 5 teaching staff working in that department. Among them, 1 person is an associate professor, 2 people are doctors of philosophy, 2 people are head teachers, 1 person is a teacher, 1 person is a 0.5 full-time teacher.

By the order of the rector of Nakhchivan State University, Ph.D. in Philology, associate professor Guliyeva Matanat Hasangulu gizi has been appointed the head of the "Methodology of teaching subjects and technology teaching" department since March 2019 and is currently leading the chair. The name of the chair was changed to "Technology" department in 2024.
