The Faculty of Arts was established on December 11, 1998 by the decision of the scientific council of the university. The faculty, which initially started with 3 departments, now unites 7 departments under its authority. 75 teachers and 8 teaching assistants work in these departments. Among our employees, 1 person is a doctor of art studies, 6 people are a doctor of philosophy in art studies, 4 people are a doctor of philosophy in pedagogy, 2 people are professors, 11 people are associate professors, 1 person is a People's Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 3 people are a People's Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 2 people are an Honored Artist of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 4 people are an Honored Cultural Worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 7 people are an Honored Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 3 are an Honored Teacher of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 4 people are Honored Teachers of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 4 people are Honored Arts Workers of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Teaching, training and education at the faculty are carried out based on the requirements set by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the University management. teachers guide students on topics dedicated to their problems, guide them in the right direction in the scientific direction. At the initiative of the Student Youth Organization, intellectual games are periodically held at the faculty, which helps to increase the outlook of our students.

Every year on September 18, the National Music Day, the jubilees of Azerbaijani composers are celebrated, and events related to all significant days are prepared. Our teachers and students are closely involved in almost all art-oriented events of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, either as participants or as spectators. The purpose of these concerts is to reveal the abilities of students, to increase attention to their formation as well-qualified personnel and the development of stage behavior.

Chamber orchestra consisting of students and teachers operating in the faculty, ensemble of folk musical instruments, as well as ensembles of various composition, "Mahur" dance group, choir, Funny and Funny Club, Student Theater Studio provide a wide opportunity to reveal the skills and talents of students. Our music groups often perform concert programs in various cities of the Republic of Turkey.

The faculty often organizes solo concerts of talented young people, teachers' class concerts, exhibitions of students' handiwork, and graduate exhibitions. The relations between the Faculty of Arts and Sciences allow the mobility of teachers and students. Our students continue their studies at foreign universities for 1 or 2 semesters, expand their knowledge and achieve important achievements for their future careers.

Piano chair

Music is a mysterious, magical world, like a paradise. Genius composers and performers are the ones who bring this paradise to people. Such talented piano players are provided by the piano chair of the Faculty of Arts of Nakhchivan State University. Most of the teachers of the piano department are artists who have special services in the development of the musical culture of Nakhchivan. They deal with students very seriously and honestly. It is for this reason that students of the chair work in children's music schools, colleges and music institutions of higher education of the Autonomous Republic. The department conducts education and training at a high level. The report concert held at the end of each academic year informs about the successful results of teachers and students. The department produces not only soloists, but also concertmasters. In addition, teachers' class concerts and students' solo concerts are held. As in all areas of our flourishing Autonomous Republic, the development in the field of music education is obvious. The activity of the piano chair in this work is undeniable. The director of the piano department is "Honored Worker of Culture" of the Republic of Azerbaijan, "Honored Worker of Art" of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, professor Saida Muslum gizi Mammadova.

Chair of music education

The chair of "Music training" is one of the main leading departments of higher education in the field of music teaching specialty. In the preparation of future specialists, the chair carries out teaching on various subjects. The taught subjects are taught by highly qualified specialists. Various technical means and methods of modern training are used to improve the quality of teaching of subjects, to increase the efficiency of the teaching process. The main basis of the chair is to train music teachers in secondary schools. According to the extract from the minutes of the meeting No. 08 dated April 11, 2023 of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Arts, from April 11, 2023, Sevinj Musayeva Hafiz gizi should be appointed as the full-time head of the "Music Education" department. Since he was appointed as the head of the chair, he was released from the position of full-time head teacher by canceling the employment contract in the "Music Training" department, and 0.5 full-time head teacher should be transferred to the position of head teacher with the employment contract while maintaining the previous election period.

Chair of history and theory of music

The Chair of Music History and Theory is one of the leading specialty departments for Musicology and Composition at the undergraduate level, as well as Music criticism and Ethnomusicology at the graduate level. In the training of future specialists, the chair carries out teaching on 32 different subjects. The taught subjects are taught by highly qualified professionals. Various technical means and methods of modern training are used to improve the quality of teaching of subjects, to increase the efficiency of the teaching process. The department is headed by Inara Eldargizi, Doctor of Arts, Docent Maharramova.

Chair of orchestral instruments and conducting

The "Orchestral instruments" chair of the Faculty of Arts of Nakhchivan State University was established in 2008. In 2011, the name of the chair was changed to "Orchestral instruments and conducting" department. Currently, 13 professors-teachers work in that department. Among them, 1 is People's Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 3 are Honored Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 1 is Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 2 are Honored Artists of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 1 is Professor, 4 are Docents, 3 are Doctor of Philosophy, 1 is Student Doctor. 5 people are head teachers, 4 people are teachers.

Rector of Nakhchivan State University, associate professor Mubariz Samad oglu Askerov was appointed as the head of the "Orchestral Instruments and Conducting" department from October 2022 and currently heads the chair.

Chair of theater and cultural studies

In 2011, the Chair of Theater and Cultural Studies was established at NSU. Currently, there are 5 teaching staff working in that department. One of them is an honored culture worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan, one is a People's Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, one is an Honored Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, one is an associate professor, one is a doctor of philosophy, two are head teachers, one is a teacher, 2 are 0.5 full-time teachers. The department is headed by the order of the rector of NSU, Ph. Since 2011, he has been appointed the head of the Chair of Theater and Cultural Studies and currently heads the chair.

Fine arts department

Chair of Fine Arts is one of the main leading specialized departments in the fields of "Teaching Fine Arts", "Painting", "Design" at the undergraduate level of higher education.

The department provides training on various subjects in the preparation of future specialists. The subjects taught are highly specialized. It is taught by experts. Various technical means and methods of teaching are used to increase the efficiency of the teaching process. Every year, exhibitions are organized with teachers and students on important days, and at the same time, they participate in national and international exhibitions, competitions and festivals Both students and teachers participate in exhibitions and competitions organized by the Foundation, and Hacıyeva Zakir, who has been appointed as the head of the chair since October 21, 2022.

Chair of folk instruments

The specialty "Folk Musical Instruments" has worked under the Nakhchivan State University Faculty of Arts Chair of Performing Arts (1996) since the first day of its establishment. Since 2008, the specialty "Folk Musical Instruments" has been separated from the Chair of Performance and has operated as an independent department under the name "Folk Musical Instruments". Currently, there are 13 professors, teaching staff, 6 concertmasters, and 1 laboratory technician working in that department. Among them, 1 person is an advanced education worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Doctor of Philosophy in Pedagogy, associate professor, 4 people are Doctor of Philosophy in Art Studies, associate professor, and 1 person is a retired teacher of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. 1 person is an honored artist of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, a senior teacher, 3 are senior teachers, 1 is a personal pensioner of the President, an Honored Cultural Worker of Nakhchivan MR, a teacher, and 3 are teachers.
